This Summer we speak English with visitors
Start the year with guests from abroad! Come and enjoy the chance of an English practice speaking with natives.
First of all, we have Eoin Naughton, from Dublin, Ireland, telling us about his experience in acting and training actors in the Meisner Technique. What is the Meisner Technique? Let us ask Eoin, who has worked with it:
“The Meisner Technique is an effective way for the actor to practice and improve their pronunciation/accent and also to memorise their lines to an “automatic” degree. However its main purpose is to allow the actor to recognize their own emotions as well as those of their acting partner. Sanford Meisner was an acting teacher and theorist who adapted the ideas of Stanislavski and created/developed his own theory.”
Interestingly enough, here´s a small sample of Robert De Niro in his application of this technique in the movie Taxi Driver:
Get to know more about it at Going Tomatoes Drama Club by clicking here and join the club to check out your acting in English in front of a camera! And if you want to learn more about Eoin, click here.
On the other hand, Sol Riscossa, member of our Tomate Tomato Theatre Band since last year, will be in charge of expanding our horizons in Fluency in English with her creativity and talent. Sol travelled England a few years ago and has a vast teaching and training experience to share with us. We will be working on interaction games and focus on sound and fluency. Get to know more abour her, here.
Last but not least, we are also expecting the visit of Mo Lee, Viual Performance Artist from USA, who will come to have a conversation in English at the Club and tell about her life and artistic experience. We are also expecting Eoin (apart from his coordination at Drama Club) to get to know more about his acting experiences, his life in Dublin in general, his trips in Africa and his views of Buenos Aires. He has already told us some interesting facts about subisidies to transportation services in Ireland that he had been thinking about in the present context with our subway conflict. I am sure we will all learn a lot from his views....
So don´t miss the oportunity of splashing into our cultural exchange activities at Tomato!
Cheers!
